EMD SD-9
|
|

The
ATSF / SP merger yielded one of the most attractive paint
schemes
to ever grace a diesel locomotive. The so-called "Kodachrome"
scheme retained the distinctive ATSF "bonnet" combined
with bright SP scarlet. The scheme offered outstanding visibility
for
safety and was an immediate hit with railfans. BLW has commissioned
Atlas to produce 2 road numbers available exclusively to
BLW on their Classic EMD SD-9 diesel.

Built by EMD
between 1954 and 1959, these 6-axle road switchers produced
1,750 HP and were used primarily for
freight service throughout the US, both on main and secondary
lines. Many SD-9 locomotives are still in service today,
serving as road switchers for shortline & industrial
railroads, and as yard switchers for major "Class
1" lines.
