GE Dash 8-40C Diesel
New Production Run

Developed in the early 1980s, the Dash 8-40C embodied General Electric’s desire to take the lead in modern locomotive design, with the first mass-produced, 4000-horsepower locomotive. The Dash 8-40C employed the day’s state-of-the-art computer and mechanical technology to earn its reputation for fast and reliable service on railroads throughout the United States. Incorporating today’s cutting edge model railroading technology, we’re please to offer this premium Spectrum® locomotive. Note: HO Scale version shown. N Scale locos do not include engineer or AccuMate couplers.

Important Warning! Bachmann is using the exact same stock #'s for the all new Dash 8-40C's as their original version which lacks the detail and vastly improved mechanism of the new model. Be very careful of "sales" or you may end up with the old version! BLW is only offering the new Bachmann Spectrum edition!

This is an all new run ... please do not confuse these with the old Bachmann Dash 8-40C's you might have known many many moons ago. This is an all new loco from the ground up with the following leading edge features:

All new DCC ready frame
Die cast low friction split frame mechanism
Diode directional lighting, lighted numberboards
Correctly colored Celcon(R) handrails, separately applied
All wheel pick-up / drive
5 Pole, skew wound can motor
Dual machined brass flywheels
N scale NMRA wheel flange profile
Geared for scale speeds.
Ultra-fine detail parts including number boards and windshield wipers

It may seem odd that we would highlight in BOLD print the "ultra-fine detail parts" --- but of all the improvements made by Bachmann, this is perhaps the most important (after performance). Older Bachmann locos often had chunky HO scale detail ... these "new and improved" locos are a vast improvement. In the words of George Orwell, "Less is More". Congratulations Bachmann on a superb job! You gotta see 'em up close to appreciate what a fine job was done on these. Bachmann's only mistake - Rapido couplers! This is one impressive loco!
