CouplerMate Rail Bogie is used to connect RoadRailers to rest of the train. One will connect a whole string of RoadRailers. If this "section" is at the end of the train, only 1 CouplerMate is needed. If you wish to run the "cut" of RoadRailers mid-train, you would then require 2 CouplerMates, one for use at each end of the string. RoadRailer is not included, available separately.

1st Release - Smoothside DuraPlate Road Railer!

What is DuraPlate? The DuraPlate trailer sidewalls are made of a remarkable composite material. The DuraPlate material is composed of a polyethylene plastic core sandwiched between two sheets of pre-painted (inner and outer) high-strength galvanized steel. The result is an efficient, lightweight, incredibly strong panel that provides important advantages over both aluminum plate and traditional sheet and post sidewall designs. Because the DuraPlate material is stiffer than aluminum, the DuraPlate trailer does not require the thin exterior posts used on the plate trailer. The result: a smooth, "clean" outside wall perfect for customer graphics.

Just like the prototype, the difference between the model and our plate wall RoadRailer trailer is all in the body. Train assembly and operation are exactly the same. The first regular release for this body style is Canadian National. CN began it's RoadRailer service between Montreal and Toronto and then expanded it to Chicago. Then they began interchange service with the BNSF RoadRailer train from Chicago to California. These trailers are gray with silver trim and black, white and red lettering and logos. The cartoon RoadRailer train is reversed on the passenger-side so it always faces forward. Like many of our RoadRailer releases, these are available in 2 different 10 packs and a single for a total of 21 different road numbers. Each 10 pack includes a CouplerMate rail bogie.

deLuxe Innovations RoadRailers
deLuxe Road Railer Swift-Wabash
Swift-Wabash RoadRailers® - In Stock / Limited!
Note: deLuxe is already sold out - quantities limited to stock on hand!

When Amtrak offered to haul Swift Transportation¹s RoadRailer trailers on the end of their passenger trains, Swift was immediately faced with a shortage of equipment. Unable to pull trailers away from the Los Angeles - Portland train (a single paper company loads nearly the entire southbound train,) Swift ran to RoadRailer builder Wabash National and leased enough trailers to cover the shortage. These were added to the Swift pool and can be found on the LA-Portland train, on many Amtrak trains, as well as on the highway.

While the back door received the glitzy Swift logo complete with golden "S", the sides gave top billing to Wabash National with only a small Swift logo about a third of the way down from the nose end. These trailers carry WNCZ reporting marks (registered to Wabash National.)

Each 10 pack includes a CouplerMate rail bogie.

deLuxe Road Railer TTM Logistics
TMM Logistics RoadRailers
TMM Logistics is affiliated with TFM railroad which is affiliated with Kansas City Southern. When running on rails, the TMM Logistics trailers are usually coupled to the end of double stack container trains (usually in blocks of 10 to 40 trailers.) These models represent TMM¹s second group of RoadRailer trailers. This group was leased from builder Wabash National and most had been in the Schneider National fleet at one time. These are 53' PlateWall design trailers which differ from TMM's original batch which were of the DuraPlate design. Each RoadRailer train requires a CouplerMate (deLuxe #18000, available separately) to connect them to the locomotives or other type of car. This run is available in 10 different road numbers.
